simple light cast script

Does anyone have one? I have a very dark room, i would like to have a light casting object in. i have tried the light settings in the builder, but they don't cast well. Someone said the kind of light I want is scripted. I have a beautiful garden lamp that has a scrip in it, but it doesn't fit the room, and the scrip is hidden.

Yes Max, fixing someone up in SL can be taken many ways. Why not just share with everyone.

2 parts to local light casting.

The prim Edit / Features / Light has to be set

and

Preferences / Graphics Details / Nearby Local Local Lights setting has to be clicked on in the viewer.

Are you maybe talking about a visible 'beam' of light - like a spotlight? If so, that effect can be achieved with a prim and a transparent texture, a texture that fades from fully opaque to invisible.

I have both set. But the light I have tried to make, doesn't show like the garden light and my bar lights do. They actually show like regular light, they show on my avitar as a color. I'm not sure how to explain. I just bought this

and it is from the bar lights. BUT I would like to be able to make they shape different on it. So i really just want the scrip and not the whole 4 prims worth of item. it's a very nice menue driven script, I'd really just like the casting for the light though.
In the picture you can see the light on my skin, from the bar lamp. I can't recreate this just using the basic tools. I need a script for it. And yes, I am bald. i lost my hair in transit somewhere LOL!
