Physical objects seem to only be visible if you're within 20 meters or so. This can be a pain for games that have physical components, because players may not be able to see them from the opposite end of the playing arena.
I just spent a few hours dissecting the issue, and I made a discovery: you can make a physical object out of the Light material, and it'll be visible from much further off. I hope this helps someone avoid wasting hours figuring this out like I did.

Actually, this doesn't have so much to do with Physics as it does just general viewing.
Smaller objects (that is, objects with less mass) are visible at greatly reduced range. This is by design, but pretty damned annoying.
And yep - light prims are the way to fix that. You can easily have a light prim attached to an object with an invisible texture and it'll be visible at extreme range.
Very useful.
