Does anyone know if you can determine certain shape values via script?

I'm afraid not, though it would be convenient. Then again, if there was a function like that, LL would probably limit it to modifiable shapes, so you would be back to the start...

I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but you can export your shape to an xml file using the realXtend viewer http://maxping.org/technology/platforms/open-simulator/transfer-your-sl-avatar-appearance-to-opensim.aspx

The hard way...

*edited* eepp!! never mind, this is a stupid idea.

You can create little prims that bump into your avatar over and over, and record where the collisions occur. Then they transmit the data.

By no means clean or easy, but it can work for some purposes. For example, a suit of armor could resize itself this way...but be sure to turn the scripts off after they are conmplete.

If you don't mind making assumptions about the how big the calf is vs other parts of the avatar, llGetAgentSize might help.

But, as other say, it's not a clean or easy (or even very good) solution.

Does that work? I thought the avatar collision model was an elongated sphere...

You're right, Tal, the avatar collision envelope is an ellipsoid, the visible avatar only exists on the client.
