Hi guys,

i have a child prim that's suppose to take in texture and notecards into its content, the texture drop is working fine, but for some reason, when i drag a notecard into that child prim, it doesn't end up in the child prim but in the parent prim's content. Does anyone know what's going on??

and also after a non owner dragged the texture into the child prim's content, it won't trigger the changed event and change the texture but the new texture is in the content though, can someone explain that?

Thanks and much appreciated!

Part 1 sounds like you're selecting the whole object, not using the "edit linked parts" option in the edit window. You can always add to an object you create and that hasn't been through various owners hands, but unless you do it that way, you'll always add to the root prim.

Not sure about the other without seeing the code and the thing in operation.

sorry maybe i didn't say this clear, all these operations aren't done in the edit prim mode, not in edit mode at all, i'm just not sure why if i do control drag a texture from my inventory to the child prim it works but if i do the same operation with a notecard it will end up in the parent not the child

Um, pass... quirk in the system.

I think, however, one that does (sort of) make sense. For everything except textures, cntl-dropping will drop it in the root prim's inventory. You're dropping it on the object not a specific prim.

With textures however, if you drag (not control-drag) a texture from inventory onto a prim face it will paint that face. If the texture you are using is no-copy is will also leave your inventory and and appear in the inventory of the prim that has it painted on it.

My guess is, and it is only a guess, that, because of the need to cope with the painting on behaviour, dropping a texture has a different bit of code, one that causes it to be dropped directly into the prim it is dropped on. Nothing else needs that code (except maybe for you) and so it gets dropped into the root prim.
