This is a copy of a post I made in the "Land and Economy" Forum.
-----
Hey all - I'm new to SL. I came here for a specific reason, and I have a specific goal.
I'm looking for three people to form a team.
A quick background of myself: I work in finance. I have my NASD series 7, 66, and 24 licenses. I am a CFA Level 1 candidate. My name is Jonathan in SL and in RL.
The team I'm looking for:
Someone with corporate accounting experience (in a publicly traded company) Someone with an extensive background in financial analysis Someone with scripting experience
I'm busy during the week so I'll be working on this project during weekends (probably four hours of collaboration in total per week).
I anticipate that the project will take about four months to complete. I will pay for any external expenses necessary to complete it (programs, phone conference time, website hosting/dev, etc.)
I am not paying a salary, but the project will most likely have its financial rewards (the size of these rewards are obviously dependant on the exchange rate...).
Please send me an e-mail at jb_ap@comcast.net with a brief resume. Serious inquires only, please.
Thanks, Jonathan

Can you be any more specific about the type of project you are working on? It sounds like it must be a "larger than average" project, and as many scripters tend to "specialize", it would be helpful if you could give more information. I realize you don't want to spill too much lest someone else take on a similar project and complete it ahead of you, but . . . if you really need someone to know particles in and out, some of us are not particularly good at THAT, but might be better at movement/rotation, or data handling, or . . . well you get the idea.

Great point - can you tell I don't know much about scripting? In general I'm more concerned with a broad knowledge and comfort with the language. If a specific script needs to be built and you don't have the knowledge then it's not the end of the world, but I'd rather not deal with "consultants" if at all possible. I don't really understand what the difference is between particles, data handling, etc. but I'm confident that someone who only knows one aspect of a language isn't what I'm looking for. Thanks for the clarification!

What Baron means is not that scripters specialize in a technical feature set, but in a genre, generally out of personal interest. For example, I make animated animals. Luc Aubret makes weaponry. Some other scripter makes communication device. Yet another makes vehicles. Etc...

I need someone who can build an interactive "station" that is linked with a database. The station needs to be able to act essentially like an auction block, where a person can enter "bids" and "asks" and the information is displayed and accessible.
Hope this helps.

Well, I think I can help you. I made auction script and I'm working on infohub now, so this could be linked into one auction terminal.

I appreciate the response I've gotten - a few really great resumes!
Apparently, my inexperience with scripting is obvious - it looks like I'm going to want two people instead of one.
I'm keeping this listing open until the 20th. Banking experience I think would translate nice into this project. Again, please e-mail me with a resume at jb_ap@comcast.net - thanks!
