I just went to Catherine Omega's Wiki at www.lslwiki.net to read about XML/RPC and found the page had been wiped and replaced with links for buying Cialis. Appears several other pages have been trashed as well. I have no idea how to contact anyone concerning this so I'm putting out the word here. Might be a good idea to disable random editing of the Wiki. Some example links (Warning, may go to adult oriented words): http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=XMLRPChttp://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=EconResourcehttp://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=NikEbisuWhat's worrisome is that it appears this has been going on for about two weeks. And while some of this is obvious, what if they have introduced not-so-obvious mis-information into pages?

one of the risks of "open source editing" without moderation. It is a true shame that it happened. (one of the message boards I own had the CAPCHA turned off for new accounts, and as the board was defunct, I never visited it. I dropped in to find several thousand posts about viagra. I still wonder what the actual motives are in doing that kind of spamming. it's ususally gibberish and there's almost never any links or anything. Regarding unmoderated editing... IMDB uses moderation on edits (as an example of another way to do it). User-submitted edits go into a queue, and are reviewed. This tends to slow the process down quite a bit.. but does seem to limit this sort of thing. The alternatives are having a list of "authorized" editors, who can edit without oversight, and "new users" can then be moderated until trusted. Of course, the OFFICIAL LSL wiki is at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LSL_Portal nowadays. (though for me, still incomplete and uncomfortable to use)

One other older mirror that might help you is : http://rpgstats.com/wiki/index.php?title=XMLRPC

Yes, page ACLs are borked, as has been pointed out on the home page comments. A spambot which is designed to poison Wakka has been systematically replacing pages with spam garbage, and will continue to do so until Catherine gets control of the situation. Hopefully, she will be able to roll back the changes, but it's gonna be rough for a bit. In the meantime, check out http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LSL_Portal and other mirror sites.

Is it possible for random users to roll back? I looked for some time trying to find a way to do that, but couldn't. (I guess I could have done cut-n-paste.)

Well, you can roll back via the ShowRevisions link on the bottom of each page, but you have to figure out which is the latest revision and save it.
Of course, doing so is pretty much meaningless until Catherine gets around to fixing the underlying problem, as the pages will continue to get re-spammed until she does so.

you can go to the bottom of any page and look for the Show Revisions link then you can go back thur many old revision done to any page. just look for the version that has a real name next to it. Not all lost.

Yeah, I fixed the XML-RPC one, but like I said, it won't stay fixed for long, unless Catherine gets it under control NOW.

Oh, no! You are most certainly right that this isn't cool, Osgeld. Does Catherine know that the wiki has been trashed?

We had this problem on our genealogy forum. Pages wiped, ads for Viagra and Cialis inserted. All stopped when the forum owner got that software that requires all posters to type in those distorted letters/numbers first (that automated systems cannot read).
May be worth looking into. Does anyone know the name of that software?
