Any idea how this is done?

I assume that she's using a special flickr browser made with an older, more compatible version of Flash.

Just a guess but probably using a Quicktime video stream to create it.

I've looked into it a bit more now. Apparently it's a complex little device made from within Second Life. It's able to read from a notecard and interact with a specific flickr account.

Unfortunately it is poorly advertised and no one knows where to find this work of art.

I can't access the page you referenced - but is this what you wanted?

http://www.hackdiary.com/archives/000087.html

It was coded by Matt Biddulph.
Cherry.

Edited to add: I just logged in & dropped you a copy :)

That appears to be a freeview television : )

I paid you for trying to help : p

I might be missing something, does Freeview interact with flickr too?

Edit: Ah, it's just the texture which is a freevew icon. It's similar to what's in the youtube video but there we can see a click-based interface being used. I'm looking for something I can use in a gallery and the item in the video is perfect.

Such a shame that no one knows where to find it : [

the hackdiary one was interacting with a web server of his own to help interact with Flickr if I recall, its all there in his blog and his video. Check it again, its probably what you want.

No, while that's very cool it doesn't have the ease of use you'd expect from a gallery item.

I've found what I was looking for at Kisa Naumova's shop. The only problem is that while the item is there and labelled as "for sale", it is not buyable!

It's called the "SLideViewr", you can find Kisa's shop by checking her Picks (from her profile), it's the top one ("eyefood.Steiger";).

The SlideViewr is a different thing - that just goes through a specific set or group on Flickr and streams a slideshow using the Parcel Media stream.

The browser is a little more complicated - it interacts with my server that uses the GD library in PHP to create the menus which have invisible linked prims over them to simulate 'clicking' on the menu.

I've let the project slide a little though - got wrapped up in a load of other things. Plus my server is ropey at the best of times. I'll either revisit this at some point when I get my new server, or just release the code.

you can use virtually any media player to control the showing of both 2D pics in a Powerpoint simulation using either a timer script or manually 'forwarding' to the next slide. Use a drop down menu as a form of remote controller to advance to the next/previous picture.. and the same system for 3D movies.

SL only supports Flash upto version 3 (pre action scripts and alpha transparencies), QT is the best on offer, although suitable, I would love to get my hands on Action script and alpha capabilities in SL.. that would open up a whole new world for SL technology :D

Kisa, thank you for responding. : )

Juding by the video it seems brilliant and, one way or another, I hope this project of yours gets the attention it deserves.

It's one of the more practical and intuitive inventions in SL.
