Hello

I've seen a board that can show a picture from internet without use of media. I wonder how the creator can do that !!! Someone can help me ?

Just curious: how do you know it wasn't done with the media stuff?

I guess you need to use llHTTPRequest. I haven't used it myself but you can read up on it here:

It is. I don't know of a way to display a web page on a prim without using parcel media.

It looks fascinating.

I am working on an old, slow laptop right now and could only risk staying in world for a few minutes to poke at it. From what I can gather from the instruction notecard, the script in the device tosses your chat input to an external server which then reformats it and somehow feeds it back to the display prim for viewing. Apparently, you can also send it a URL for an image to display. There is a parcel media setting active there, set to display a YouTube video, and there's a disclaimer in the instruction notecard that sounds like the advice that creators have been giving to customers who buy YouTube-dependent devices these days. Maybe that's the trick? Perhaps someone with better sleuthing skills and more in-world time than I have at the moment can figure it out.

There's really only two possibilities.

A) they are using Parcel media
B) they are converting the page to video.

Either way, it's not really that functional.

Bring on HTML on a prim! :p

c) they're using a bot that's uploading the image free as a baked clothing texture.

Like since those images have unique ID's and you can access them in different places that wouldn't be available for temporary assets, I assume that person has a bot somewhere uploading image assets on demand, paying L$10 for each one (if not, then they will be once 1.27 server gets to them)

They seem to be temporary texture assets uploaded to a sim at no charge, and only viewable in that sim or after they are in the local cache.

probably uses the local cache for avatar textures, then grabs the key and pops it into the inventory list... nice hack around though.
