Permission to use YOUR tutorials?

First of all, I'm crossposting this in the Building, Texturing, and Animation forums (Scripting now as well. Sorry, didn't mean to neglect you!) I know some people only ever really look at specific forums, and I wish to get everyone to see this, generally.

Now then

I've long been working on a tutorial site idea, but with just my own I find that I don't have enough time to dedicate to the project, to make it truly effective, and as useful as I'd like.

I'd like to change my plan a little bit, and also host other peoples' tutorials and tips, mainly from this forum, on my website. To this end, I'd like to request permission from those who have written tutorials to use your work (You will be given credit, and I will not change any information) and also, if you're willing, for links to tutorials you'd like hosted on my website. If you don't provide links, I will find some, but probably not all, of yours on my own.

I'll be doing the maintenance and work for making it the same there as it is here, and ask for no more work from you than your consent. You've already done plenty of work by writing them ^-^

If you're willing, please post in this thread with your consent and any links you'd like to give. Alternatively, PM me with the same info.

Thanks to all those who have written tutorials, and to those who will in the future!

-------------------------------

Also, I'm more than willing to host tutorials and tips that are not from the forums, and also any tools and/or free content packages you'd like to have available.

In the end this website is planned to be more than just tutorials, but a content creator's haven, with tools, information, tutorials, and anything else you can think of.

If you'd like to help develop this website alongside me, contact me please.

NOTE:: Website URL not currently available, am right now registering the domain. Planned to be SecondCreators.com

"um i want to do something but i have no website domain or willpower to do anything else but POST ON EVERY FKIN FORUM on the website, can you all do it for me?"

Excuse me? I'm waiting for the domain registration to finish. I've given my reason for crossposting, which I feel is valid. If you don't like it, don't read it.

I'm putting in the work to create the website and tutorials of my own, and am not asking you to make any more tutorials. I'm talking about existing ones that are already here.

I'm trying to be nice and instead of just using someone's work without permission, I'm asking for permission. I personally feel it's more proper. If you disagree, I don't care.

Have a nice day.

well i cant avoid it, its on every forum

and why would anyone go out of their way to a 3rd party site containing the exact same information as here?

next crossposting / multiposting is against the forum guidelines, no matter how justified you feel

lastly if i did have any tutorials posted here why would i want them reproduced just to help your traffic and possible ad exposure

and if you wanted to ask the creators permission GO ASK THEM not spam eveyone

It's on 4. All with the exact same title. I know plenty of people with the ability to not click something they know they've seen. Are you using some automated system to see every new post? If so, I'd love to know where to get it.

Easier to find it than this forums bad search ability, for one. Also a single place to find similar tutorials without any more searching is convenient, don't you think?

Short answer: I know. Go away.
Slightly less short answer: I splurged for once, and felt like doing it this way.

Already said the reason.

And I don't give a damn about traffic, and will have no ads whatsoever. The site is coming out of my pocket.

Believe it or not, it's an attempt at doing something useful for the community. Create a single place where you can get various things for all walks of content creation.

Scripters have the two wikis, but building, animation, and textures don't really have anything like that available. I also post in the scripting section and offer it to scripters, however, because I feel it's only fair to offer the same to everyone, and I also feel that more content creation types makes it more useful.

Once again, have a nice day, Mr. Barmy.

Someone got out of the bed on the wrong side.

Keira is active in mant forums and i have always found her to be very helpfull, and spend a lot of time ansewring questions.

It was me that suggested she post to this forum, as you would know if you had read all the other posts.

Personnaly I think her idea is an excellent one, I think it would be nice to have a centralised source of information on creating content.

I for one will support this in any way I can.

I usually only look at Building and Scripting, lol.

I'd so love this website! =) Granted, there is the Wiki.. But user tutorials will likely be more useful for my Script-challenged brain. Don't forget to put a donate link on there somewhere!

If I ever make any tutorials.. I'll be sure to send 'em your way.

well i never said it was a bad idea

problem is your already sitting in a centralized place for content creation, its the first place anyone goes

now were fussing about the "bad search function" and the only reason its bad is that every tom dick and harry in the universe for the last 5 years thought, for whatever reason, that they were justified and proceeded to multipost, post in the wrong spot, go way off subject or whatever

and now, if someone were to use the advance search to look for website <-> scripting help, there now 1 more junk thread that doesnt even have 1 word of scripting advice in it

so thanks for making it just a little bit worse, your help to the community is appreciated

The thing that makes the search function bad is that nobody really uses the advanced function, and even when you do, the forums in general are so active that you get way too many posts to choose from.

4 Posts. Out of millions. Tens of millions. Maybe hundreds. I don't care how many there are, there are tons. I don't generally cross post. I think this is something like my 3rd time doing it in well over a year. Of all the reasons to cross post, I'm thinking this is one of the better ones. Yes, it's still against the rules, but ya know what? It's not hurting anyone. Go bother someone who really is causing a problem.

I try to be nice in my posts, but in this case I don't care. You've been rude from the offset. Have a good day, Mr. Barmy.

ETA: This is a forum. I'm not making a forum. I'm making a centralized place to go for specifically tutorials, examples, tools, templates, and other resources. These forums don't offer that.

I'm done with this argument, as it serves no purpose.

Once again, good day, Mr. Barmy.
