Hi guys, I'm looking for a script to reduce the length of the playback on a .wav file, it seems the file has a silent bit at the end which is very irritating sinse i need a fluent sound for my helicopter rota.

Try downloading Goldwave. As a beginner you will be able to clip out the unwanted silence you describe quite easily.

The free version allows you to save sound files under 45 seconds long, which should be more than enough for SL. The relatively inexpensive licensed version allows you to save files of any reasonable length.

Of course you will need mod rights to save and edit the sound file on your hard drive. If you don't it's still fun to create your own sound file and upload that instead. There are quite a number of online sound libraries where you can find a suitable resource to work on.

Audacity is a good, free, sound-editing program as well.

It could be done via scripting as well with a timer event that stops playback after 'x' seconds, but that's alot of overhead to fix an issue that should be addressed externally with a sound editor such as the ones previously mentioned.

You might try WavTrim or mpTrim too. They're both free and very easy to use. Check out .

meh you can trim sound file with Sound Recorder on windows (it's already there) if that's all you need to do. (sndrec32.exe if you're searching for it)
