This is just a quick fan letter, coz I don't think you get enough of them!

The regulars, who reply to threads in here and who post library scripts, must make a vast contribution to SL's community & development. Some of you are such script wizards - and so patient - I bow in your presence: that is, I would bow if my avatar knew how to :D

I spend an hour or two EVERY DAY reading these forums. I'm one of those who learn better by example than through theory, and I really couldn't ask for better teachers.

Thank you :)
Cherry

I agree! I am also lucky enough to be friends in world with one of the script wizzards that contributes here a lot (waves to Newgate). He's always ready to help me with a script if I am stuck. But everyone here is great through.

I have never had any formal programming training/classes. Everything I know about scripting I have learned through the wiki, these forums and friends in world (and from just tinkering with the freebie scripts to see what happens).

Three cheers for you guys! :D

Vares, You're making me blush again!
I'm far from a wizard, or even a wizzard :P, I still know nothing about vehicles, weapons or 99% of things that the established wizzard all write in their sleep.
You taught me all I know about particle systems so if I'm a wizzard I think you should put the pointy hat on too :)

Like you I learnt most of my LSL by reading the forum, the wikki or disecting freebies.
I've yet to find anyone in world who wasnt helpful when trying to figure out problems, Although I was dammed annoyed to ever have to ask!, half , no 3/4, of the fun for me was working out how and why things worked.

Programming/Scripting isnt difficult, as long as you are logical in how you approach your problem. In any language half the battle is understanding the syntax of the language, its limitations and nuances.

I'd like to say personal thank you's to Stife, Hank Ramos, Nepenthes Ixchel, Ama Omega, Xylor Baysklef, Escort DeFarge and all those who have ever posted anything in the forums. I've never met most of you, but thank you for all your hard work and help through examples or just sparking idea's.
