Particle Trail

Hello everyone. I got a particle question for you all because I'm thoroughly stumped.

I'm trying to make an object that can be thrown and come back(something akin to a TRON disc). While flying I want it to emit a particle trail.

The trail would come out of the negative X axis. The trick, though, is how to I make sure the particles make use of the local rotation of the disk at all times, so that particles always follow the bank, yaw, and pitch of the disc in flight? The particles themselves are stationary, or will be once I figure out that little script trick. They are to be emitted without force of any sort, so that they remain totally stationary and fade out at the end of their short lives.

Basically, the particles would trace the path of the disc as it goes.

Any ideas?

Hmm, as far as having the particle follow the rotation of the object, I don't think particles really have a rotation per-say, they're billboards, or sprites, they're always rendered flat on your screen facing towards your camera, basically.

If your particles are staying "stuck" on your object while it moves instead of trailing behind it, look through your particle script and comment out the line that has this string of text in it : PSYS_PART_FOLLOW_SRC_MASK

Or post your particle script here and someone should be able to help you, there are many different "flavors" of particle scripts out there and without knowing which one you're using or more details I can't think of any other suggestions...

I think you are probably looking for PSYS_SRC_PATTERN_DROP. If the disk is moving you don't have to do anything clever with the particles wrt where they are relative to the moving object...
