I'm not sure this is possible; Can you get any information on the touch of an object? Namely, I'm hoping to be able to retrieve the side that was touched, or some way to fake this.

I know you can get which prim in an object was touched.. so you can make a box with say 6 prim slabs.... that would let you know which "face" was touched. I sunno if you can get the actual face of a prim though

There's no good or reliable way to do it.
There's a hack involving some complicated math and camera tracking, but it requires mouselook to be on.
