Why was the old forum unlinked from the main page!? Why not just dump what was in the old Script Discussion forum in here? That *WAS* the old place where Script Wisdom was discussed and exchanged.

I dunno, Tcoz. I'm inclined to believe Daniel's story that it was an accident. If they were just going to delete it to spite us, they'd at least say that's what they were doing, wouldn't they?

The Lindens will always say, "Look, on the ground, a dollar!" What they mean is, "Bend over." Take that as you will. <suckup-mode active="true"> I'm just glad we have someone smart enough to keep LSL resources and examples off-site. </suckup-mode> _____________________

I dunno, a lot of people complain about how bad a deal we get from the Lindens, but I just don't see it. Granted, we'll undoubtedly get a lot of good and amusing use out of the phrase "he pulled a Daniel" in the next few days, but aside from that minor screw-up, (which I have full faith they will correct) what exactly do they do that's so horrible? And if it's really that bad, why is anyone here to complain about it?
![]() Yes, there are some things that they could have perhaps dealt with in a more timely or effective fashion. Yes, they've made some sweeping changes that affected the way SL worked... but on the whole, things have always improved. People point out all kinds of ways in which the Lindens are out to get us: from the switch to the 1.2 pricing model, to the abolishment of all kinds of money exploits prior to that, or to the fact that there are actually (gasp!) people in SL to make money! I don't buy it. The Lindens have always and will always put Second Life above their secret wishes to cause pain and misery to all. "But you're one of the ones they bestow their trademark Linden favoritism upon!" you may exclaim, wet flecks of spittle flying from your mouth and hitting your monitor. To that, I can only shake my head sadly and reply, "then what's this restraining order for?" Insane tangents aside, Linden Lab does a far better job of it than any other company I've seen. They have to, given their entire business model relies upon not pissing off their subscriber base. Perhaps the only real complaint I've seen --one that I share, by the way-- is that their customer service process could stand to become somewhat more streamlined. It hasn't scaled as well as the world itself. _____________________

I actually might have a very partial, very incomplete archive of the site. I remember attempting to back it up to my laptop when going on vacation for a week back in April. <checks to see if those files still exist> |

People always yell and scream when things change. Inertia is just another one of those many annoying human flaws. It's the 21st century, people need to get used to the fact that things change! Maybe the Lindens thought it better to start over with a new set of knowledge and get rid of some old information that maybe doesn't work so well anymore. But they could never explain that to people so the just lied. Or maybe it really was some sort of accident. Either way, take this opportunity to rebuild better thatn before!! perhaps move the library to someplace more stable, like the UNIVERSITY OF SECOND LIFE via a note card library. Hank?? You there?? |
