Hi all:

With all the recent hubbub recently about orbital-gun wearing griefers, have been looking into how these negative-mass prims are made. Needless to say, it's not exactly an openly-proclaimed tidbit of info. So to that end I'm taking the offer-em-cash approach :D

To that end, I'm offering the following bounties:

1) $5000L to be given a script (source-code readable) that can create a neg-mass prim, or instructions on how to manually reproduce the effect;

OR

2) $2500L for a full-rights copy of a neg-mass prim.

I'll give payment only after confirmation that 1) or 2) is the genuine article. Anonymity will be promised if requested.

I'm not sure a negative-mass prim would be *strictly* necesary for an orbiter. I think it just regenerates its energy quickly. Although destributing information about such energy sources would be, in my opinion, a good thing. I might use one in my de-orbiter, to better counteract the effects of orbiters. If you get one of these, could you consider sending one my way?
If they are necesary for a good orbiter, why not just ask LL to fix the bug in their massing code? That would stop all the orbiting greifers.

It is probably no longer possible to make them, most of the objects with screwed up bounding boxes are legacy and cannot be recreated (as bounding box & mass are cached).

It seems the new mass equations set the min mass to 0.00100. This is different then how things worked during 1.5 and later releases (where it would give up applying attributes if the mass went negitive and just use the pre screw-up value).

I have prims that when they were created back during 1.3 & 1.4 were negitive in mass but now they report as 0.00100 in mass. I won't be passing them along as they violate the size restrictions on prims.

Orbitters do not need negative mass. I've made one myself, smacks someone up over 4 million meters and doesn't use any negative mass. Energy regen is fairly instant (ie, running at script execution rate or faster) when dealing with tiny prims, the use of negative mass is used for mass calculations along with energy, but its possible to bypass it completely. Just... don't ask how.

Negative mass prims probably do have their uses, but I'm sure theres work arounds for most of them, and they're just over hyped. I also think that since the latest patches you just can't make them anymore (at least using the methods I once knew).
