I'm on a computer w/o photoshop right now and just need a black texture UUID I can use in a script until I get to upload my own.

Thanks!

You could also just set the colour to <0,0,0> which will make anything black.

Really? What's the difference in appearance? (serious question, not trying to be troublesome here)

Lets say you are making a jacket as a t-shirt because you want it to extend over your pants. You want the color of the jacket to be black so you select black for the color and tint than choose your design as the upper fabric. You dont choose a lower fabric because you already made the jacket black.

That will not work if your design on your shirt is white or any other color than black. The color and tint applies to both the upper and low fabrics and overlays the upper fabric. So now you cannot see your design. If you set the color to white and choose an all black texture for the lower fabric your fine. An example would be a black jacket with white text on it. If you set the Color/Tint to black you wont be able to see the text.

But the question here was asking for the UUID of a black texture, which cannot be used in clothing manufacture, only in a scripted prim.

But even in clothing making, whether you use an all-black texture for your fabric, or use the color as black, it will still come out all-black.

Won't it?

I know black textures with non-black stuff on them aren't the same as plain black textures. I still cant see a difference between a 100% black texture on a prim and any texture set to black using the colour chooser. I know there are differences in terms of scripting (swapping textures vs. changing colours) but when they are black they all look the same to me.

Microsoft Paint should be able to make a black texture when Photoshop is not around asuming you are on a machine with MS Paint.

Also Google image search, just search for "blacktexture".

That's because they *are* the same with regular openGL settings -- prim colour is multiplied with texture colour, and anything multiplied by 0 winds up as 0 itself.. so in the end you get a surface with <0, 0, 0> colour values no matter what texture they have applied ^^;

I use a black texture for something as well

I use it when I want a part of the object black, but want to be able to script the rest of the prim to change color using llSetLinkColor(); It's quite handy.
