I am wondering if there is anyway to attach a HUD to an avatars screen temporarily while someone is sitting on an animated poseball. It would be great if it could detach when they get up...any ideas if this is possible. ANy help would be appreciated.

the poseball could "give" them an attachment, called "HUD (Please wear me)"

Or.. and this is a REALLY screwy idea, you could position the camera in a known place, and then REZ the hud iin that location. The liklihood of that working properly is fairly slim.

Is this something you could accomplish with llDialogs instead?

It could probably work with dialogs if someone else could control it......the idea is to have someone sit and then another avatar control the addition of the hud....really just a prim with no controls ....I basically want to cover the avatar that is sitting screen. It could poof on unsit or be removed, either way would work. It's easy enough to give them the hud and say "wear me" was trying to find a way to do it without having to dig in their inventory for it.

Well.. there's another way this COULD work.. but it's ONLY going to work for the OWNER of the poseball.

The poseball can "rez" the hud, and then ask the owner for "permission to attach". Then the script can issue a "attach to avatar" command. This is how most blindfolds seem to work nowadays.wear blindfold, blindfold rezzes HUD blocker, blocker attaches from ground.

This will *ONLY* work if the person sitting/triggering the action, is the OWNER of the rezzer.

Remember though, you can't DELETE a worn attachment. You can script it to "detach" when they stand up.. but once again, you've added it to their inventory now.

I've got some open Jira threads asking for llDieAttached, and llDrop.. either of which could be used to discard "one use only" HUDs and gift certificates. And Strife Onizuka has a pretty good Jira for a "llDetachFromAvatarAndTrash" which is a pretty good compromise.

llDrop: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2281
llDieAttached: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2282
llDetachFromAvatarAndTrash: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2454

you could force an attatchment by

1)rezzing an hud
2)having the hud request attatch_perm
the above could be skipped if you give them the hud and tell them to wear it
3)have some type of secure handshake
4)use a timer to ensure they haven't detatched it.

But this won't work for anyone other than the owner.
