XYZZY prims on a curve?

I was hoping to get some letters written around the edge of a ring using xyzzy prims, making them flexible and planting them around the edge of the ring. But of course, though they may be "flexible" I can't get hold of them or move them in place onto a curve. How might I achieve the effect? Are we stuck with flat and/or straight line xyzzy messages?

flexi prims can only be "anchored" on one end so that wont work

other than that, the xy prim setup is (depending on which one) a box thats tapered and flattened or a box thats tapered cut and flattened, even if you did the latter with other shapes the fact that its being displayed on the cut surface inherently makes it flat

now a possible solution would be to render all the text possible and just put it on the outside of a cylinder, this is all dependent on if you need truly dynamic text, or just some scripted text with only a handful of predefined phrases
