PA system

Hi all
I am needing a PA System for a long ship me and a friend are working on.

We need it so we dont have to shout, use IM or type in a code to send the text... sub channels are prefered for the PAs to communicate

I posted one, then realized I'd forgotten a few key things, like the PA system, so removed it. Oops. I'm tired.

I built one a while back but just never use it. If you IM with the rough distance, I can clean it up and send it to you (full mod rights of course).

Or if you'd like to do it yourself, (and if anyone else reading has better ideas on this, I'd love to know), it's just a listen on either end that shouts the text (and the speaker, if necessary) on a hidden channel, which is listened for and spit back out on the other end. If it's less than 100 meters, pretty easy. If it's more (distance wise) you need relays, and need to setup prefix codes so that the relays don't bounce the message back to each other forever, not hard, but a slight pain.

You don't need to use relays anymore, you can just llEmail.

And you don't need to put out prims, either. You can just use attachments.

I was thinking of putting a "disguise" attachment on one of my avatars. It would listen on a specific channel, then broadcast with the object's name.

That way the character the avatar is designed to look like would actually be the one doing the speaking, rathter than having my name.

TXGorilla, that should be "not hard". That would be worth having at the classes too (people can't always here the instructor). IM me in game, and I'll see what I can do. (Look for me after 6:00 Pacific Time)

i did a simple relay script like that in a helmet; listened on two different channels; one to set the name; the other to relay. I used it to open a secret door where the owner had left the script any copy. I think they did it so people who were motivated could open it ^_^.
