Hi all,
I would like to create a room above my club for myself as living quarters. I am not sure how high it has to be above chat range and also, is there a trick to teleporting to the exact location. I have tried this once and it always seems to mess up. Is it just trial and error to get the right location, or is there more to it?

Whispers go 10m, talking goes 20m, shouts go 100m, and llSitTarget with an offset anywhere from <300,300,300> to <-300,-300,-300> will teleport you places. Just be DAMN sure to put a llSleep(0.1) in front of the llUnSit. Otherwise you'll end up with a teleporter that's as cruddy as most out there, flinging you around at your destination. Also make sure to zero your rotations, or use complex rotational math to figure out the proper offset. Uber complex * and / math with quadrawazits.

Sounds like you don't want to be this high, but I'll throw this in anyway.

You can't set your home position above 256m. If you do, you'll materialize in mid-air falling. Kind of neat, but not practical.

Also, clouds can be annoying in the 120 to 200 range, but they are nice just above or below you.

I also notice that my client frame rate improves as I go higher. Some of my particle effects also look much better at higher altitudes. Although this could just be because I have a crappy video card. :)

One last thing. I was thinking of making a platform builders kit available for free. It would have pre-built boards of different sizes--10x20, 10x30, 20x30, etc.--- with alpha textures on the inner edges so that they would look good when transparent. Let me know if there's any interest.
