I am wondering if a vending script uses any resources whenever it is idle (no interaction). I am thinking not, but want to make sure. Thanks

Each script if it is active takes some time even if it isn't doing anything.

Each script if it is active takes some time even if it isn't doing anything. and depending on how the vendor is set up, some scripts will utilize more resources when idle than others _____________________

When you say "takes some time," what does that mean exactly? If I pull up the sim statistics bar, is it "time dilation" that is affected? I was trying to figure out the statistics last night, but meh..
The reason I ask all this is because I dropped vendor scripts in my hair boxes so I could track sales. I think I could slim the scripts down some by taking out the listen for the "reset" command from the owner. Each "vendor" has a single item in it. I wish there were a way to script a prim to just send a message/email to owner whenever it is "bought" via the "buy" option rather than using a money script. :\ What do you guys think about what I did? Am I sucking a tremendous amount of resources this way? I'll look at the vendor script more and see if there are other things I can cut out too. |

Idle scripts use time, but it's barely anything, just don't use millions of them
![]() However, listens will take more resources so I would recommend removing them, especially if they listen on channel 0, as every time someone/something speaks, every single listen has to be processed to see if it is applicable to that object. _____________________
