Rezzing a vehicle...

I'm relatively still a newb. I want to ride a vehicle. When I try to whip it out, the land says "Sorry not permitted here" (or something to that nature).

Is it possible to attach that vehicle (as you do with clothing) directly to your posterior? Would that work? Does everyone already do that? Why isn't there a provision for allowing people to ride their vehicles that is simpler?

Most probably wont work, as most scripted vehicles in SL are reliant on the havok physics engine, and attaching a vehicle to your bod will not enable physics on the vehicle.

Interestingly, once upon a time, there was no havok, and you would have to attach vehicles to your body, in conjuction with an animation.

I imagine it really annoys the vehicle making folks when their customers say... "But where can I ride it?"

Keep an eye on the toolbar at the top of your screen. When you see the red circle with the cube in it, that's a no-build zone.

Here's how to find a rez area:

* Press CTRL + F, click Places, then search for "rezzing area".

Good places to rez vehicles:

* The rezzing area in Brilliant (beside Busy Ben's). That's in the vehicle park: six sims *just* for vehicles. Great fun.

* The rezzing area on the Fame/Brilliant border, which is also in the vehicle park.

* Cordova. Always buildable, but it's often cluttered and hard to drive a ground vehicle up the crater wall to the vehicle park.

* Abbotts. If you have an aircraft, the runway at Abbotts Aerodrome is always open for takeoffs and landings. Feel free to rez aircraft there. It's adjascent to Cordova and the vehicle park, so it's a good place to start.

* Gray. This is another good place to rez aircraft. The neighbouring sims are mostly empty and provide a good place to fly.

If you just want to go for a drive along a Linden-built road, step off onto someone's preoperty on either side. Odds are they don't have the no-build flag turned on. Rez your vehicle there then move it to the road and hop on.

Just don't leave your stuff on their land. It's likely to be deleted.

Thanks for the great suggestions! I hope more people like me are listening and paying attention to this post, because *I* for one thought to myself... "Self" why bother buying a vehicle if you cannot rez it. =)

Thanks this will help a LOT!
