Particle help request

Hi all,
I'm building a gun and have made a muzzle flash particle effect that i'm happy with, the problem is the effect seems to move with the camera...

From the side it looks good but when viewed from the front the effect seems to go sideways. I'm using a small invisible disc to hold the particle script that place a few inches from the end of the gun barrel.

Does any one know what i'm doing wrong of if there is a way around this?
Thanks

I'm not sure that can work. A particle is a 2D thing and is always shown face-on, regardless of which angle you look at it from.

I think people usually use a prim for stuff like what you're doing. It's always there but the texture gets changed to invisible when it's not firing..

You might try using a texture which is a bit more diagonally symmetrical or "rounded"; one which will look good when viewed face-on at any angle.

Sindy is right, though, most of the ones I have seen use a prim with alpha to accomplish the same thing.
