What's the Deal with llTextBox?

I was about to start scripting a new product when I remembered about llTextBox...

It's a function that could change the way some of the core features of my product work.

Should I just wait for llTextBox to come out? Or is that too far off in the future?

Given how good of an idea it is, I'd agree...

Bah.

I hope LL hasn't abandoned it COMPLETELY... Although, they probably have.

Thanks for the replies.

I have asked about it repeatedly, only to be told the viewer side development was put on the back burner. The server side implementation has been done for quite some time.

A user-written patch for the viewer was even provided in JIRA, and still hasn't resulted in it's implementation. I can only imagine as to why it's seemingly being held back deliberately.

IMHO it's because they realized after the JIRA flack that their proposed implementation wasn't fully thought out. No default value for the text box. Deer in the headlights.

I suppose that would make sense.

Or maybe, for some reason, they're just waiting for the next big update... Then they might have a chance at hiding their mediocre implementation in the release notes.

I wrote that patch. I feel a little guilty that I haven't updated it to work with the current release branch, but things got really, really busy for me in RL and I haven't even done much serious LSL work lately, not to mention viewer-side coding. :o
