Can This Be Done with a Script?

Would appreciate any information regarding the following. Neighbor currently harassing me by positioning a giant surf wave to angle across my land washing out the first floor of my residence every 5 seconds or so. No setting on About Land prevents this wave from entering AND sending me an IM each time (i've muted the wave). Is there any script or any function I can put in a script that when dropped into a prim barrier would prevent this wave from crossing my property lines thereby stopping this form of harassment? (and yes have already filed complaint with LL - but not sure how long the queue is there lol).

I don't think there is any script that will help you.

Can you raise your land to cover it?

Or, you can cover it with trees and big rocks or dead bodies washed up in the surf, or something.

it is also tempting to fight back. his waves crash into your house, you make flaming lava balls that fly into his...my advice is to resist the temptation, it just makes things worse.

oh, Lee.. thank you so much. you made me laugh about this for the first time. i am not one for retaliation in like ways. you must have sensed that. but working with the landscape may not be a bad idea. thank you again. you have brightened my morning.

Um, if he's truly harassing you, then he'll just move his wave.

yes, i'm sure he could. but there are a couple of things in my favor... it is not my primary residence. and in the end it only hurts HIM. i truly believe he bought the wave to surf on. the wave may be able to breach the barrier, but if an avie on a surfboard is on it, i think they both would crash against it; not much fun AND he would probably be liable for any resulting medical bills. :) so perhaps he will get smart and redirect the wave. if not, i can always erect a 70 story condo to show him what big REALLY is...lol.

I suggest talking to your neighbour first... maybe he's not aware... Next you can ask the landowner from whom you and your neighbour rent. Usually they will approach the offender and ask them to fix it. Your landowner will be able to - for example - return the wave.

Trying to block it (thru prims or thru landscaping) seems like a tertiary choice after talking to your neighbour and secondary the landowner.

thanks lyn - i own my land - he owns his. this whole thing started because i DID talk to my neighbor, informing him that his wave was sending me IM's every 5 seconds as it crossed the corner of my plot. he informed me that i would have to move the house i just erected on my plot because it was "interfering" with the angle of his wave - the angle of which washed over my property. i didn't mind the wash over my property, but the IMs were another thing.

someone clued me in on how to shut the wave up via muting an object - i informed him and after stating that my 2-story house was too large, he changed the angle of the wave to full perpendicular so that it purposefully crossed my entire property, washing out the bottom level of my house. apparently my neighbor believes that i should take his likes and dislikes, his needs, his sensitivities, his agenda and his wave into consideration before doing anything with my land. and the upshot is that i rezzed and modded the house to show a friend, planning to take it down once that was done. now it stays up.

i am a newcomer to the neighborhood - thankfully the land plot is not my main residence - but i am well acquainted with the oh-so-sensitive types who are oh so sensitive to their own needs, wants, talents, agendas, and oh so oblivious to the needs, wants, talents and agendas of others. SL really does shine a very bright light on RL character or lack thereof.

I assume you can't return it to owner because the center is on his side....

sadly this sounds like AR material

The waves are set to die when they hit land. You may want to rase a bar of land. At least the waves I know that move die when they hit land.

I agree.. no scripted solution is likely to help, outside of reciprocal harassment.

The answer is via policy, and filing an Abuse Report on it.

Right-click the wave to put it in edit mode. If it is physical, it will freeze. Right-click again->More...>More...>Report Abuse. Fill in the dialog that comes up. Get the wave intersecting with your house and check the Include Screenshot checkbox. Provide the details. Submit. If you have had no resolution in 3 days, do it again and include *SECOND REPORT*. If in 3 days, they don't respond, start doing it daily until they respond. Sometimes it takes multiple ARs to get through, but they will take care of it.

In case you didn't notice Sebastian, the last post to this thread was 5 months ago. We laughingly call such a delayed response; necroposting. Others, seeing your new response will then mistakenly start adding comments to the same dead thread.

LOL, I didn't even notice that. No wonder Felicity never answered. =)

There's been a necroposting epidemic lately, and it's not just one person doing it. What's going on here???

I love that.

I look for key words that might have somthing to do with my work or other issues. When I find a topic and read it, sometimes I hit respond and forget to check the date it was orginaly posted. My guess is most of it comes from posting to threads located with search.

Hey, no problem, I personally haven't necroposted but I have mistakenly responded to a necro on occasion as the others did here.

And more importantly, you were trying to help someone else in your response. The forum always needs new blood, new people to jump in and help others.
