Do you know if it is possible to rez separate objects with a script from a hosting object and then have then linked together by a script? I want this for evolved creatures made from multiple prims

its an AI script, rezzed objects interact with each other, only on a primitive level but it could be tweeked.

You can link prims into a set with LSL under certain conditions - see
