If you have access to change the URL, you're already able to see it in the about land - media tab. Therefore, I'm not sure why anyone would need a function such as llGetParcelMusicURL(). Why would you need to read it, if you've set it? Ideally, you shouldn't be able to grab someone else's music/video URL's, unless they wish to give them to you.
The reason you aren't supposed to have access to the URLs is because people pay for the bandwidth to stream. If you and others could easily llGet... and use those URLs, then you could overload the stream, degrading the quality. There are also security concerns. For instance, if you're streaming from your personal home computer, you'd likely prefer to keep the stream URL private. |

If this were the actual reasoning behind there being no llGetParcelMusicURL(), then the same could be said for llParcelMediaQuery() .. Since that serves a similar purpose and shares the same restrictions. The llGetParcelMusicURL() function could serve a number of purposes, for one, I could use it to actually check the parcels current music url before turning on my url switcher, saving it so that it could be reverted after I turn off my url switcher. It could also be used to test to make sure I'm not trying to switch to a url that is already active, or if someone simply wants to be able to display the currently playing music url on their land dynamicly. The obviously would have the same restrictions as llParcelMediaQuery's ability to show the movie's url, in that the script owner must also be the land owner. To answer the original question, it was probably simple oversight as many of the most wanted functions seem to be in LSL. Add that as a feature request and I'll second it.. It would definately be a handy function to have in our LSL toolbox...Fox _____________________
