Hi I have discovered a problem, or what seems to me to be a bug, and am wondering if anyone has any insight.

I have a set of linked prims making up one object.

If the set is aligned North, South, East, or West on the grid, then I am able to edit linked parts and rotate one of the the child prims to a new rotation. I can do this manually or with a script.

If the set is aligned at any angle off of true North, South, East, or West. when you edit linked parts and try to rotate one of the child prims, it snaps back to it's original position after you 'let go' of it. Again, this does this regardless of if you rotate it manually or with a script.

I feel that if I can do it when it is pointed North, South, East or West, I should be able to do it when it is pointed NE, NW, SE or SW.

Any help please ? I ultimatly want to rotate the child prim using a script.

Thanks !

Hi. This is not a scripting problem per se, instead being an inherent bug with Edit Linked Parts and very possibly a lag issue.

My advice would be to simply not use Edit Linked Parts in this situation, instead moving the prims unlinked and linking them up when done. This should fix most problems you are having with the system unless your network is the cause.

There've been many threads over in the Building Forum on this express type of issue, so you're certainly not alone.

Oh. And when you set rotations of child prims, make sure you use llSetLocalRot.
