Can someone help me understand how I can make an object and have an avie only sit on it a certain way? Like a created chair, rather than clicking on the armrest or back and sitting on it I'd like the avie to sit a certain facing way no matter what part they click on.
Sorry if it's a noob question but I haven't been able to sort it out.

No, the last one.
The one that when you click edit on it:
A) Shows up yellow and B) If you've not chosen edit linked parts is the contents area that is displayed.

The original author specified "sit on it a certain way?"
I'm relatively new here, but I believe that would require a custom animation to be present as well. Perhaps the thread originator already knows that, however from the context of the question, I'm thinking perhaps not.

When using a sit ball, or other things (like dance machines say) you can play custom anims, different sits, stands, or even animations. This is the basis of the sex pose ball industry in SL amongst other things.
Custom anims can either be bought or created out of world (Poser being the commonest tool) and imported as BVH files.
In your 'sit ball' you stop the sit anim (llStopAnimation()) and play the alternate animation (llPlayAnimation()).
This isn't the right forum for a detailed discussion of how to make them yourself (animations forum) or where to buy them (in world or shopping forums, or the various online shopping alternatives), but that's the basics of it.
There are a number of standard anims (sitting, standing, sitting crossed legged, shooting, drinking etc.) that you can use without any extra anims, the system default ones if you like.
