Hi there, I'm rather new to SL and I've been extremely interested in the LSL language and the limits. I have a project in mind but I can't find any information listing functions LSL that will allow me to modify elements of an Avatar's shape like Size, head size, leg length, etc.
Is it possible with LSL?

Not possible.
The only way to "modify" an avatar through scripting is playing animations.

No way to modify an avatar without playing an animation. Only thing you can do is llPushObject(avatar...) and you can detect an avatars mass and height, but not modify.

Is it possible with LSL? all those are tied to the appearance sliders, LSL has no access to those.

So is it possible to make slider type adjustments with animations, like... weight?

Yes. Right click on your avatar and select "Appearance" from the pie menu, this will allow you to customize your avatar from head to toe. Oh.. and WELCOME!!!!

Actually no, you can't affect sliders with an animation. However search the animation forum for "deformer", there is a way to resize the mesh with an animation. It's based on a bug, so it may not work in the future.

Artemis is REALLY new to SL, like only a week, so I suspect this question was really about "How do I modify my avatar?", in which case the "Appearance" menu is what s/he(?) is seeking. (Please correct if I am wrong, Artemis. ) Also, there are things you can wear such as a "skin" (which is basically a painted overlay, and usually looks much better than what is possible in the Appearance menu), or a pre-made "shape" (which you CAN make or edit in the Appearance menu). Send me an IM in world if you like, and I will be happy to send you some free starter stuff in a care package...

They specifically asked about LSL functions to modify the avatar size, I don't think there is any misunderstanding. And personally I think it's a bit discriminatory to think just because they are new they can't grasp LSL or building or what have you. I know I didn't need anyone holding my hand when I first joined. Just my 2 cents.

On a slightly different tack, is it possible to animate an avitar purely by LSL, and not by playing a animation?
A friend of mine was showing me Mannequin. The avi sits on a poseball, then selects a part of a body of a model, a mannequin, such as the forearm. The standard rotation rgb circles are then seen, and when you rotate the forearm on the mannequin, your own forearm rotates!!
I cannot find any LSL command for rotating my arm, so how is it done? Surely it cannot be by animations being preloaded into the device, as an infinite number of permutations are theoretically possible (or at least very high).

Remember, though, that you can stack animations on top of one another; unless they affect the same joints they will not affect each other. Though even so the number of animations required for that sort of thing would still be large. Who knows, perhaps they did put in the time required to upload them all.
There is no way through LSL of moving joints directly, certainly, and I'm not aware of any client method either.
