SL can play MP3 and other Quicktime-supported formats as far as I know. It's not really related to a script, it's all handled in the viewer. You set the URL to the music source in your land settings. So if XM has a way to stream their music over the internet and it's compatible with Quicktime, you can do it. If not, why not just run their music app in the background instead?
P.S. I checked out their FAQ here: http://www.sirius.com/faqs#sir They use Microsoft's WMV format (likely because of the DRM it offers) so it's not going to play in SL. You'll have to use Windows Media Player in the background. _____________________

Sirius streams can play in OS X's QuickTime if Flip4Mac is installed. Are there any similar plugins for the Windows version? Probably not, I doubt this problem comes up too often outside specialized environments like SL ...
