Hiya!
I'm working with one of the many freebie boat scripts out there; I've got like five of them so far, and all of them have the same problem. The turns are VERY sharp and fast, but the power sliding is amazing... so just lightly tapping the right arrow key could change my angle anywhere from 20-30 degrees, but the boat fishtails for awhile before it actually takes that heading.
I'd like to both tighten and loosen this. Loosen it in that you have to hold down the key longer to make the boat turn more, but tighten in that the boat should be a bit more responsive and not slide sideways across the water once you're turning. Good for a jet ski, bad for a casually cruising motorboat.
What are some good vehicle parameters to use? Thanks!

I'm just a user, but look at the hover board script thats freely available, the turning on that needs a longer button hold to get a tight turn, maybe it will help?

Where can I get the hoverboard script? I suppose it'd be as good a place as any to start, since nobody else has replied...

From: Seven Shikami Where can I get the hoverboard script? I suppose it'd be as good a place as any to start, since nobody else has replied... Both weapons and vehicles are kind of a specialty branch of LSL. When it comes to vehicles, then people like Ordinal Malaprop can spit out an answer off the top of her head much faster then most of us can look at our scripts and try to figure it out. Just hang in there and be patient and I am sure someone with the expertise will pop in here and see you query.

Frankly, if there were a good general pattern for coming up with the parameters then someone would have posted a guide by now. My experience is that it depends on the particular object, that you then spend days tuning to get what you want for that particular vehicle object. The best general patten I have found (after 2 years of trying) is: (1) understand fully what the parameters are supposed to do, (2) tweak like hell when you find they don't do anything like you'd expect until the particular vehicle object does what you actually want, (3) Be prepared for the day (tomorrow/next year) when something changes in the platform that means they don't work like they did any more.
Not too encouraging, hunh? Well, if anyone knows a better way, I'd be glad to hear it.

As Escort said it depends on the vehicle, and it depends on what you want, I scripted boats for different ppl, using default boat scripts. Some people like speed, some others like cruising, more tilt, lest tilt, etc etc etc.
Personally I like more 'real' speed, if you go to nantucket and sail at low speeds you can have a very good time, instead if you go to super turbo unreal speed prolly you will end crashing in a sim crossing.
Also I like the cruise mode so I don't have to hold the forward key all the time and in my script i add a key to stop the boat totally, it's very good when you notice that your boat it's out of control at higher speeds.
