I have gotten mixed results using llDie() and No Copy objects. sometimes it works, other times it fails. Why?

How strange.
I see it work all the time on DarkLife, where some rewards are delivered via an object that's no-copy, and it llDie()s after delivery. Post the experiment so we can repeat it? _____________________

Tokin' Joints are sold "no copy", and I've never heard of one failing to go away.
I certainly hope not, because my dope dealing days would be gone if the weed didn't go away when the joint was finished. - Ace _____________________

IF you have the object attached to your avatar it won't delete. You can still use llRemoveInventory to remove the script from the object
