Prim counters when you don't own land. Any updates?

There were a number of posts in 2007 regarding prim counters that could be used by group members to see how many prims they owned on a parcel or sim. A number of people were looking for them. The general consensus seemed to be that it wasn't possible for anyone other than the parcel owner or a group officer to place or access this type of scripted object, due to limitations with the LSL script, and therefore what people wanted wasn't possible.

Does anyone know if this has ever changed? Is it possible yet for me to place a scripted object on group owned land that I rent, and find out how many prims I have used? I looked on SLexchange (or whatever it is called these days) but was not sufficiently reassured that the products for sale could actually do what I wanted them to do.

Thanks for any advice.

Must deed to group on group-owned land

Hi -

If a group owns the land on which you want to use the prim counter (deeded to group - not just set to group), then you need to deed the prim counter to the group that owns the land to get the prim counter to work.

Just make sure that the prim counter you use has, at a minimum, transfer permission since you need to be able to deed (transfer) it to a group. You can get the counter back from the group by setting it for sale for L$0 and then buying it.

...due to limitations with the LSL script

I'm not sure I'd call this a limitation..

Unless you have the right privs for a group, you can't see the data in About Land either. The way LL did the LSL calls was just being consistant with that.
