Hi... What built in function should be used to get the group name of a certain avatar? I mean the groups that are found in the head of a certain avatar. Thanks in advance....

I only know of llDetectedGroup and llSameGroup, neither of which do exactly that.

Sadly, there is no way to get any information about the group a particular avatar is in. There's a convoluted way to get a group key of an object, but there's absolutely nothing you can do with it.
The only thing you can do is to check to see if the avatar is in the same group the object is in. That's using the two functions described above. *goes off to file a JIRA feature request for more group functions* |

Like for example, if we are teleport in Natoma sim, you are belong to IBM Group (for example) just found in your head. And I am from Reuters Group and that found is also found in my head. I want write a script that will detect your avatar about your group name and also detect my group name. llDetectedGroup will return an integer 0 and 1 or FALSE and TRUE. llSameGroup will return true if that particular avatar has the same name of simulator and group name of avatar. What I mean is that to detect our invidual group name in a particular sim. What function is that?

Oh, I do seem to remember something about being able to set child prims to different groups and have them check for a selection of names, if that's any help.

Yes...you can 'hack' an object to check for multiple groups by changing the associated group of a scripted child-prim...BUT...you can never pick that object up...or it will revert to 1 group.
