I just thought up the idea of making a texture database. In principle, it would be a main system on one sim, in which most of the back and forth of textures and information will be, and multiple other systems, on which ppl can donate textures, or browse threw some free textures. This would lower the amount of texture uploads. Also, this would also mean that, if used well, would help with sim loads*. I have the fundamentals of the script thought threw. The only problem is for donating textures, I might have to wait for SL version 1.6. Since 1.6 includes the capability of other avatars dropping there objects(textures) in an object they do not own, only if the object allows it. * This is just a thought that came to me when writing this post. Every texture has its own key, meaning that every different texture uploaded by one person would add to the rest of them already there, but if what I think is true, this would cause ppl to just look threw textures already loaded in SL and not add new ones. In all, there would be less textures that your computer would have to download every time you come in range of a different texture since most of them would be of the same texture key. (less loading = smoother travels = less lag) So just leave any comments you might have on this idea. Naratso Khan ** I found out that it is possible at in the current version to drop items in an object you do not own, if the object allows it.

What are you talking about? We've had llAllowInventoryDrop since beta. http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=llAllowInventoryDrop
