Pretty new to building here, so bear with me.
I have a robot avatar with really big shoulders. I decided it would be neat to have someone be able to sit up on my shoulder and stay there while I walk around.
I've been told in another forum that having an avatar sit on another avatar, or anything they are wearing is impossible, but I've seen things you can buy that simulate this. I've also been told that I can make a sort of wearable vehicle. My shoulder piece would be the 'seat' for this vehicle that my friends sit on and stay with me, in the end it looks like they're riding a giant robot that is my avatar.
Any idea how to go about doing this?
Please don't refer me to anyone's product. I have very few lindens and even less real money to spend on them. I want to be able to make this myself, and make it copy and mod so that I can make several variations of different poses on my shoulder.
Also let it be known that the avatar I want to do this to is copy and mod, but I didn't make it myself.

http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=vehiclesThat should get you started. If you don't know LSL script you should probably start with the basics though.

It says right off the bat that vehicles cannot be attachments. How then am I to go about doing this? I know it is possible, as I see things you can buy to enable you to carry another avatar in a certain poses!
I have the pose I want to use, I have the thing I want to make sitt-able, I just need to know where to begin!

Head over to the Isle of Wyrms, the Cathedral sim, and ask a dragon to show you its saddle.. This is probably close to exactly what you want. It won't really show you _how_ to do it but you'll have a much better idea of what your target it, I think.

I have the pose I want to use, I have the thing I want to make sitt-able, I just need to know where to begin! The way these items work is that you rez the vehicle and both avatars sit on the vehicle. The animations in the vehicle then make it *look* like one avatar is carrying the other. One avatar will be able to operate the vehicle controls and the other will just come along for the ride. So for example, to achieve the illusion of a human riding a dragon, first you rez the dragon saddle - not as an attachment, but just rezzed on ground. The dragon avatar sits on the saddle, which gives the dragon the vehicle controls and then animates the dragon so it appears that the saddle is on the dragon's back. Then the human avatar sits on the saddle, which animates the human so that the human appears to be sitting on the dragon. I have never played with vehicle scripts so I do not know what the scripts themselves look like - but that is how the effect is achieved, with vehicle scripts. The vehicle appears to be an attachment because of the animations, but it is not an attachment.
