I need to make an projectile which sticks to another avatar on collision. I'm still looking into this, but any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

I don't think its possible to attach to another avatar on collision, but it may be possible for it to follow it around. (Of course you would need their permission to let something like that loose on them).

I'm pretty sure an object can only attach to its owner.

I don't think so also. At least not truely attaching to the person you hit. With some mad scripting skills you could probably rig up something like this that would instead fire, when it collides with the AV turn phantom and nonphysically "follow" that exact position/rotation relative to the AV it just hit... and then hopefully be temp-on-rez or die a moment later. But, even then and even if you wanted to get that complicated and it worked...With my experience with collisions with the AV here, I think the arrow would basically stay "stuck" floating right next to smaller AV's, tinies, ect...

Yep...there is no way to "attach" an object to a non-owner. It's really too bad.

That's what I thought - just wanted to verify before I told them that it can't be done. I figured you could have the object follow the avatar, but that would most likely be complicated and error prone, and probably not worth it. Thanks again

With cooperation from the target avatar, such as by wearing a target attachment, then you might have it communicate with the arrow, which vanishes on command, and the target attachment then rezzes its own arrow, now owned by the avatar, which it then proceeds to attach and stick in the avatar, thank you very much.
Dont know if that is possible. The target attachment might also be able to animate the avatar, maybe immobilizing him if enough arrows hit close to the target. |
