Is there a method from a script in an attachment to make what an avatar says in chat be shouted? And then set it back to normal with another command?

I know a shout can be made with pre-written text, but i want this to act as if the person were manually choosing shout in chat with what they type on the client.

All that a script can do is listen for what somebody says in normal chat, and then shout it (using llShout). It can't actually replace the text, or appear to be the original avatar when shouting - it can change its name, but the chat will still be a different colour, and the originating key will be different. Also, people within 20m will hear both.

In other words, no. Hold down the CTRL key when pressing enter. It's really not that difficult.

What you can also do is have the script listen on a channel, say channel 21 and have it do an llSHOUT(0, ____) of what it hears:

default {
state_entry() {
llListen(25, "", llGetOwner(), "" );
}

listen( integer inChannel, string inSpeakerName, key inSpeakerKey, string inMsg )
{
llShout( 0, inMsg )
}
}
