I have a cafe. The menu temp rezzes the plate of food and then I can either touch it to kill it or it will de-rez on its own. But it de-rezzes entirely too fast. The great scripter who created this for me says that the timing cant be changed. But is there a way around this without having solid prims rez? Thanks.

There is no way to control the temp-on-rez feature, but you can re-rez the object periodically. This is not something I would personally recommend since it created undue load on the client and server - more objects to render, more updates to deliver.
The proper way to do it would be to buy enough land to accomodate the prims you need.

Thanks for the info. I have enough land but I just didnt want to have the cafe littered with left over meals. I think I can get away with the meal re-rezzing once. That would be plenty of time for folks to linger over their meals. It is only a 5 table cafe and I dont forsee each table being utilized at the same time so the client and server will be ok. Thanks so much.

You can set objects to delete themselves after a set time using llSetTimerEvent, the timer event and llDie.

You could also have them check to see if the person who ordered is still present before the meal deletes using a sensor.

Another option would be to give the avatar the meal and have them rez it themselves and to set an autoreturn on the land.

Those are greatt ideas AJ.What Ziggy is going to do is turn off the temp rez feature and allow the plate to die after 5 minutes. It will mean prims on the land but not too many. Checking to see if the avater is present wont be effective because they are ordering drinks and staying at the table after the meal is over. So adding the die timer is my best bet. Thanks:-)

float countdown = 30; //Seconds it stay there before it dies.

default
{
state_entry()
{
llSetTimerEvent(countdown);
}
timer()
{
llDie();
}
}
