Hullo, all. I'm working on a dirigible, and I'm trying to figure out how to do a couple of things:
1) display a dynamically updating map on one face of a prim (basically, have the mini-map show up on the prim face)

2) get and update a camera image on a prim face; the idea is some kind of telephoto camera looking at the ground, so when the pilot is cruising at altitude, s/he can have a camera view of the ground to assist in find a good place to land.

I have no WIP scripts of my own efforts at this thus far as I have no idea how to go about even beginning such a thing or even if it's possible.

My thanks to all for any tips you can provide.

Hmm.. Forget about the mini-map on a face of a prim. This isn't absolutely impossible but there is just no way to achieve any kind of useable speed. SL isn't fast enough.

Forget also about any kind of real time dynamic video on a prim. The closest I can imagine is to move your camera below the dirigible when you sit in front of that "device".

Wait 10 years and maybe SL will have evolved enough. But don't hold your breath! ;-)

Yeah, unfortunately both of these things are impossible.

You could, however, simulate a radar by making small, flat dots move across the screen in accordance to avatars in the area... although it might get out of sync when the airship moves.
