Is there a way to change ownership of an in-world object? (as opposed to giving an avatar the object to show up in the av's inventory)

In a parcel where creating objects is disabled for all, I would like an object that visitors can click on to rez a particular other object. But I would like to have this newly rezzed object owned by the clicker. Is this possible?

It is possible to create a box into the inventory of which others can drop objects. The box can then rez a copy (or the original if it's no-copy).

Strongly advise against this though as it would be wide open to abuse. As far as I recall there isn't any way to find out who dropped an item in the inventory so if the rezzed item breached ToS or CS then you would most likely be responsible. Ways around this might be to have someone touch the object which then allows inventory accept and then prompts the same person "do you want to rez item <insert name here>?" Yes No. if no, then delete.

Hmm..Ok. So there is no way to change the owner of an object already in the world?

I'll just find another way of doing it then. I agree about the drop-box. Very very bad.

To my knowledge its only Buy object or give inventory. So, no, not unless you're there to take and rez every item.

for good reasons you just stated... if you could change an owner programatically, you could take any griefing item and slap somone elses name on it..... ZOMG TRIBBLES!!!!

granted theres a few cases where I'd love to "revoke" ownership...
