I recently bought some land, and there are three buildings on it. Each has several doors, some that swing open and many that slide open.
Ever since the sale, all the sliding doors have *all* quit working. The doors that swing open are fine.
I've looked inside the objects and the scripts are still there. I recompiled some for Mono, but that made no difference and produced no errors.
The designer has offered to replace them all, but I'd rather understand what's happened.
Does anyone have a clue?

Does anyone have a clue? Seeing the scripts would be a help, but I guess they are not readable. Am I correct in thinking from your post that the buildings and associated doors were included in the sale and haven't moved anywhere or passed through your inventory (as opposed to their being your doors, which worked fine until you moved them to your new land)? If that is the case, the most likely explanation that occurs to me is that the previous owner forgot to do whatever was necessary when he sold you the buildings and the sliding doors still think they belong to him or a group or something. Certainly sounds as if the doors don't recognise you as their owner for whatever reason. Make sure they do actually show as belonging to you; if they do, you might try resetting the scripts. If not, take it up with the vendor. That's all I can think of, off the top of my head.

Who is the "owner" of the door object and the script. Maybe they will open for that person, and not for you.

The doors worked fine before the sale. All the objects were transferred to me, so the doors do indeed belong to me.
I didn't check the script ownership, so I'll do that next time I'm inworld, and I'll ask the previous owner to try to open the doors.
Thanks for the ideas.

Come to think of it, if the scripts don't include a check for CHANGED_OWNER, they wouldn't know they'd been sold, would they? I would have thought that recompiling them for mono would have reset them, though, but it's still all I can think of.

I realize this is a dead thread, but I recently resolved the issue.
A visitor pointed out that I had disabled scripts on my property, which kept her from doing something or other...
well, when I turned them on, I got an IM from some script belonging to the person who sold me the doors.
Now, everything works fine, including some cuddle poses in my couches that had similarly quit working.
