TV's in SL

I think this is the right place tp pose this question as I find this Forum quiet confusing.

IU have bought a te;levision for my home here in sl. However, it dosn't appeqar to do anything. I have also bought the consul which is needded.

I have contacted the designer but he does not appear all that interested in helpiing.

Have I bought a lemon? O rhas anyone managed to get theses things to do anything?

There are a few problems that could be wrong with it. First off if it's group land you need to deed the controller. If you don't have group land, test out the controller, and see if it changes the media in your about land -> media. If it is, then in that tab you need to set a texture for the media to play on. How SL works is that it will replace the texture in that box to what is streaming to your parcel. If that is all set up and it's not working then there is something wrong with the controller.

I don't understand what is meant by 'set a texture for the media to play on'. It asks for an address. What address do I use?

I, too, have contacted the seller of my TV, and he doesn't seem interested in helping. I've found several threads that also mention setting the media texture...but set it to what?

How SL works is that a video stream is sent to replace a specific texture within the parcel.
This is the Media URL texture and can be seen on the Land details Dialog As Lazink said previously.

Usually the TV / Controller will set this texture on start up.
Check that the texture specified in the Dialog matches the texture being displayed by the TV set. Also check that you have video enabled!

If you rent the house from someone it wont work either, you either have to own the land yourself or deed it to the group that does own it . This could mean you may lose the TV (lose meaning you will have a TV that will never work for you again) when you no longer live at the rented house.

Dont forget : you need Quicktime installed to play Video.
