I know I've seen objects which you can PAY that gives inventory that is wearable AND the item is automatically worn when purchased.
I want to create an object which gives inventory (clothing for example) and where that item is immediately worn by the agent receiving it.
This is in response to a touch event - it is not a purchase. llGiveInventory does not seem to have a flag that (on the order of) "Wear Now" - how is this accomplished in LSL?
Thanks in advance,

As far as I know, that isn't possible.
You only get the "wear clothing" option when buying through the built-in "set for sale" option.

You can set the for sale price to $0. If any of the content items is clothing the buyer gets that "wear now" checkbox. It only works using the Buy menu option, not on touch. No script is needed for this to work.
