I was wondering...

would it possible to write a script for an affiliate system?

Can anyone give me any pointers on how to approach this?

Thank you!

An affiliate system is a system that allows people to sign up (or be added) to refer people to your business. In exchange, the system will automatically pay them "X amount or X percentage of sales generated by the people they referred during a certain time period (depending on what was agreed upon at time of their signup).

Well having people sign up is easy enough, a simple touch activated script that would then capture their name/key and pass it on to a server or off world via email.

You will need some form of custom vendor software that allows the buyer to specify who refered them, either via chat or dialog. This would then inform the server of the sale and let it sort out paying the referee.

The Apez vendor system (www.apez.biz) allows you create affiliate groups and pay percentages. This may provide what you're looking for.

I was looking for a system similar to that one.

The only difference is it's not for vending.

I wanted a system where the person click on an object (let's say a sign) and they get a drop down menu.
From this menu they select the name of the person who referred them.

I'm creating an entertainment venue with a lot of gameshow, trivia, multi game type of games. So I would need to know just who referred them.

Then I would compare to the daily transactions I save on excel and pay accordingly.

Thx for the post.

Well thats easier than a vendor.
The size of the list and wether it is in world or off world will affect how you manipulate it.

The list would be in SL. Everything would be SL based.

The biggest problem will be managing the lists to display in the dialog when selecting who reffered someone. That and possible time delays in building lists if you are transmitting data backwards and forwards between servers and kiosks.
