Hi, I'm fairly new to SL and I was wondering if anyone has written a script that will show all attachments, and their link points, on an avatar? It seems like when you get the properties of an object it should show where it has been set to be attached.
Many thanks, Valin.

There is no other way to see where an object attaches, than to attach it If you want to see the attach points on your avatar: Rez cube Right-click cube Choose Attach To...

Thanks Jesrad, tho what i want is something to help in inventory management, so I know what i've attached to where. Help alleviate the problem where new attachments "knock off" old ones. I was hoping there might have been a better method than trial and error.

Yes, it frustrates me too I ended up making my own attachments and using a specific attach point for each specific usage.

One sensible way to find out...
1. Rez a bunch of small spheres.
2. Name each of them after an attachment point.
3. Put them all in one dir.
4. Wear the dir. You now wear a lot of little spheres!
5. Wear the item you want to know what attachment point it goes on.
6. Examine the dir where the balls are. THe attachment will have obviously replaced one of the balls.
7. There ya go, really!

I have to say I find it rather puzzling that there is no ll function that returns a list of attachements and their locations...or just an attachment at a specific location.
Is this by design or simply and oversight?

Better yet: Don't wear any attachments (if necessary, right-click your AV and select Detach all) Wear object Check the Take Off menu by right-clicking your AV, the only attachment point not greyed out is the one

There should be something in the info for an item in inventory that lists which attachment point it is set to, at least. Adding information about it's offset from that attachment point and it's relative rotation would be nice too. Providing scriptability for all this data would be icing.

Thanks for all the replies. I've used all the methods people have suggested. They dont get around the basic need for the properties of a given object to list where it's been set to. (As Tiger said). Also, if the "take off" circle menu can highlight there is is "something" attached at a given point on your Avi, why can't we get it to show what the name of the object is. Linden's take note
