How to stop CAMs from seeing through walls?

Is there a way to prevent this? I've been searching it for days and can't find anything at all on it.

Cams can look through walls. That's just not right. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks.

Thanks for the very quick replies. At least I know I'm not crazy and just couldn't find it in any of my searches.

Is this a bug that is going to be fixed, or are the Lindens Just a bunch of Peeping Toms?

Actually, the camming makes it significantly easier to build structures. Without it, building would be significantly tougher and take a whole lot longer.

So don't do anything you'd be ashamed of. <g>

It's a fundamental limitation in the design of SL that is inherently unfixable in any meaningful sense. The camera position is controlled by the viewer, and the viewer is open source.

Creating a mechanism to limit what gets downloaded to the viewer, so that you could have a "private zone" on a parcel to build things that couldn't be cammed into because they're in a separate zone, is a common request and one that the Lindens have expressed sympathy with... but they have always had bigger fish to fry.

SL wasnt designed for not being able to see
if ya need privacy buy your own sim and ban everyone or log off

If you Hollowed out a 10x10 space in the center of say a 100m mega prim capped by a couple more wouldn't the privacy be insured? Not sure of the rotate to see distance within such an object, but I would think such deminsions would prevent the lurker from seeing the privacy seeker? Yes/No?

If you want privacy, why not get your own standalone opensim? they are free, and you can do what you like there without any prying eyes.

No.

Maximum draw distance is 512 meters.

Maximum non-phantom megaprim size is 256 meters, because prims are phantom outside the sim.

Maybe LL could lessen the OpenSpace blow by implementing one of the privacy options like this:

Try moving your playroom to the 2000/4000 meter zone, and wrap it in an invisi prim. This will eliminate 99% of the casual peekers, and the real perv's will have to work to find you. Short of owning a sim, this is the only road to privacy in sl at the moment.
