I was wondering if there is any way to make one prim follow the end of a flexi prim. I am working on a project that will only work if I find a way to do that. I need a prim to act as if its attached to the end of the flexi, so when the flexi prim bends, it moves with it. Is it possible?

I dont think so. I think the flexi effects are only visual i.e. they do not effect the position or rotation information returned by llGetPos or llGetRot even though they may appear to do so.

According to the Wiki there was a plan... 'sometime in the future': flexible

From: Yedweb Linden
In order to attach objects to the end of a flexible object, we need complete hierarchy. This is a separate feature which we're not currently working on, but should happen sometime in the future and which will enable attaching things to the end of flexible objects automatically.
Flexible objects are currently not elastic (that is, they maintain their initial length). To make both ends fixed creates a problem either with excessive elasticity or instability, and these are issues which were not in the scope of "Flexible Objects 1.0". (hint, hint) (Yedwab Linden, 4/15/06)
...however that was a year ago. :p

I have heard of a trick using two flexi prims attached at the same point. One is short and completely visible, the other is longer but starts with an invisible part. What I have heard is these two will move in exactly the same way, so it will look like the longer one is attached to the shorter one at the end.

I have never tried this myself though and it is not really a scripting tip ;)

I have seen an animation of a guy who had made himself a beautiful fox tail in this way and that looked very well...

Flexiprims are processed entirely on the client side.

Thus, it is not possible for another prim to attach to the flexible end of such a prim or even move along with it.

If the effects were processed server side they'd not only add a massive load on the sims but would also trigger constant massive full prim updates and thus cause high traffic.
