llTargetOmega on attachments...having problems.

I'm trying to get smooth rotation on attachments using a combination of llTargetOmega and llSetRot...it works perfectly when the object is on the ground...however once I wear it, it keeps spinning in a circle, ignoring both omega and rotation changes (though oddly selecting it makes the rotation show). If I recompile the script, it starts working perfectly again. The following things break it and make me have to recompile: detach/reattach, teleporting, sitting, standing up.

I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to get around this problem, because it's extremely frustrating having to recompile the script constantly.

A can sympathise as I am having the same problems :(

only workaround I've found sofar is that a full update seems to kick it back into working as it seems to be the client side that is losing the status, so, periodic llSetText(" ",<0,0,0>,0) seem to kick it back into life.... I just don't want to use that in a script that is out there and working as it just causes lag for no reason. :(

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I've not played with this, but the set text hack seems to be the one I remember. I think attachments are still in a sort of "special" place as far as the various servers are concerned, which is why things like llTargetOmega aren't always 100% reliable on them. Tricks to make the sim, client, asset server, whatever "wake up" seem like the only fix to date. Bug report it though, you never know!
